Many different problems can occur in a car's heating system. If your car has an issue, then do not hesitate to have an auto heating repair job carried out. Driving around in the cold with no heating or with your heater blasting hot air on a sunny day is dangerous. If you are not at a comfortable temperature inside your car, then you will be distracted or become tired. This can have a serious effect on your ability to drive safely. As such, seeking out auto heating repair services is not simply about being comfortable on the road but also ensuring the safety of yourself and other motorists. What are the main car heating issues?

Thermostat Problems

Sometimes the simplest problems are the most likely to occur. If your heating system is uncontrollable but you still get jets of air coming out of its vents when you turn it on, then the most likely cause is a faulty thermostat. Although replacing the whole thermostat is usually the best way to go about remedying this situation, it can be that the knob that controls the thermostat is all that has gone wrong. An auto heating repair could, therefore, be as simple as reconnecting it.

Faulty Control Valve

Most car heating systems work by passing air over a heater matrix, which then supplies it to where it is needed via ducting. If the control valve that regulates this airflow is not working properly, then you can see a range of issues. Your heating may be too cold, too hot, blowing too much or blowing not enough. Removing the control valve and replacing it with a new one often resolves such issues.

Blockages

In some cases, your car's air intake system will have gotten clogged up with debris. Leaves and even bits of plastic can be dragged into this system as you drive about. If your heating matrix is not able to suck in enough external air to warm it properly, then you will feel a diminished response whenever you turn the heating on. Most auto heating repair centres will deal with this problem by blowing compressed air through the intake system to clear it of blockages.

Temperature Sensor Faults

Another common issue with auto heating systems is that the temperature sensor of the car will malfunction. They either stop working completely or do not record the correct temperature. Either way, the most usual way to proceed is to exchange this relatively cheap part for a new one.
